About the reader: male, late twenties, German; avid follower of her videos.Brittanys book was an easy and enjoyable read. I could hear Brittany speaking through the book. There are definitely times where you recognize she is a writer (and not only a YouTuber writing a book).I read it on kindle and had from time to time a dictionary ready. If English is not your mother tongue and you wish to improve, I'd recommend it to you. There were only about 10 words I wanted or needed to look up and another 10 to get more associations why a native speaker would use this expression. This is also a very useful thing to get a grasp of how natives express themselves. A different experience than via spoken English or translated German. Brittany will soon make this experience while learning German. Many happiness and enjoyment with that. Also I am reader who is very prone to spot spelling mistakes, double or missing words etc. I saw none during my read. There were only 3 or 4 formatting issues like a word directly after a point or bigmistakes written together which probably are only in the kindle version, not in the physical books. Sadly such high quality is not such a given anymore, so I was very delighted to experience it.So far about the formalities.Concerning the content.I heard another person say, this is a book about self-worth and the first chapters this was my impression too and I was a bit confused about the title. Getting to the later chapters I recognized limiting it to self-worth would be far from the truth and instead I found the title was perfectly! chosen. To SUM UP THE BOOK IN ONE SENTENCE:It is a self-reflection about what makes girls. To avoid people getting the wrong idea: It is in no way whatsoever an egocentric book. It draws out much on reflections and advice of others.Especially in the beginning, I read between the lines something which she also talked about in a video or two: Her political activity had taken a toll on her. (Words like "battle".) The further I read, this impression faded away. Instead, something I had hoped for occurred: Some of the attributes we men like to see in and experience from women like tenderness, delicacy, warmth, heart and forgiveness blossomed. In older days such a book would have been a normal conversation women would have about their role in life. Today I am very grateful to see such healthy normalcy finds its way back into society from a young woman like her.Because, if I would highlight a huge part of the current state of society, it would be: Western society today amplifies the worst in us, male and female. Thus we deteriorate many relationships and a lot of amends and forgiving is necessary. So I am very happy to have read this book. After consuming MGTOW and anti-feminist videos and articles during this year, which speak much more about negative qualities women can embody like intriguing, lying, manipulating, this delivered a very healthy balance in showing women striving for a virtuous life.In the end this makes this book a contribution to healing the society as a whole.I grew up in an atheist household. In the recent years I grew fond of some Christian aspects in their worldview. For despite all talk about humanism and dignity (Würde), it seems to me the overwhelming atheist worldview is a kind of upgraded or updated behaviorism.Behaviorism being stimulus, head=black empty box, response.Nowadays the black-box not being empty anymore but containing a software program.Hopefully you already recognize what I wish to say: The current idea of man (Menschenbild) lacks a soul(!). It is a mechanic or robotic encapsulation of human personality, not human nature.Another aspect is dialectics and either-or. A divided society is often talking point of today.Accordingly it was refreshing to read some inputs which stem from her Christian view, like forgiveness, humility and balance (instead of or accompanying either-or).You'll definitely find soul (heart) and balance here.I am very happy this book is in existence and hundreds of girls will reflect about and have a conversation about it. Last time I felt this kind of happiness, was, when Lindsay Shepherd uploaded her video "peak fertility age". This book is obviously more in-depth and thought through than such a small video. Still both very worthwhile contributions to young women, potentially rescuing them from horrifying misery in their future.I was hesitant whether I should give this book four or five stars.Being more the critical reader, I want to reserve five stars for extraordinary books. Although "What Makes Us Girls" is a pretty decent read, it is not an extraordinarily mind-blowing masterpiece. Still, it probably will be a book that resonates with me and have a place in my heart for a time. During these days of Christmas delivering thoughtful ideas for self-reflection and contemplation. As I wrote: "In the end this makes this book a contribution to healing the society as a whole." I'll credit it the five stars it deserves.
